3 IEEE PELS & CPSS joint chapters founded in China

On November 5, 2018, the opening Ceremony of three Joint Chapters of IEEE Power Electronics Society (IEEE PELS) and China Power Supply Society (CPSS) was held during 2nd International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition (PEAC2018) in Shenzhen, China. More than 800 attendees witnessed this glorious event (Figure 1). President of IEEE PELS Prof. Alan Mantooth from University of Arkansas, and President of CPSS Prof. Dehong Xu from Zhejiang University attended the ceremony and awarded plaques to three joint chapters - Shanghai, Zhejiang/Jiangsu/Anhui and Xi’an.&nbsp;<img src="http://file.cpss.org.cn/Resource/UploadFile/6370312841435875755049593.png" title="image.png" alt="image.png" width="500" height="333"/>FIG 1 More than 800 attendees participated in the opening ceremony.&nbsp;Prof. Alan Mantooth gave an opening speech on the ceremony (Figure 2). He expressed congratulations to the three joint chapters and pointed out that the joint chapter is another achievement of the long-term cooperation between PELS and CPSS. They would further enhance service to the members and expand the influence of PELS in China. He also expressed his wish that PELS and CPSS can cooperate more deeply and extensively in the future.<img src="http://file.cpss.org.cn/Resource/UploadFile/6370312841440660569063685.png" title="image.png" alt="image.png" width="500" height="334"/>FIG 2 Prof. Alan Mantooth the President of IEEE PELS gave the speech.&nbsp;Prof. Mark Dehong Xu hosted the ceremony (Figure 3). He introduced the process of establishment of three joint chapters. He said that in recent years, CPSS and PELS have gradually established a comprehensive cooperative relationship and jointly committed to international communication for specialists at home and abroad. The establishment of three joint chapters in China will further promote international exchange of power electronics and the cooperation between PELS and CPSS.
